About 32 percent of the country's total land area were agricultural lands. Of this, 51% and 44% were arable and permanent croplands, respectively.

At constant 2000 prices, Gross Value Added (GVA) in agriculture and fishing grew by 1.60 percent in 2014. Average annual rate of increase was 1.77 percent over the period 2012 to 2014.

In 2014, production of palay was 2.87 percent higher than the 2013 record. Corn production was up by 5.33 percent. Production of hog increased by 1.00 percent while that of chicken grew by 1.07 percent.
